Confession time.. I'm actually not the biggest fan and prefer body butters from other brands. I've historically found the ones from The Body Shop to be a little too far on the greasy side for my liking and I also find them to be pricey. That said, I thought I'd keep an open mind and revisit for the purpose of today's review, not least given the tough times the brand's currently experiencing. I've opted to trial the Shea version which is designed to target very dry skin. I will say that I like that the different variations target varying degrees of dryness and offers a point of differentiation, alongside scent preferences, to the line up.

The texture is a thick white butter which is practically solid at room temperature. For this reason, I found it a little difficult to scoop out of the tub and specifically, difficult to control the desired amount. I warmed the product in my hands before applying to my body where it was surprisingly easily absorbed. To me, the texture doesn't feel modern or elegant, nor does it feel like an indulgent product to use and it's the usage experience which would put me off repurchasing. That said, I appreciated that there was no greasy residue left on skin so I was able to dress promptly following use.
I couldn't detect any discernible scent and whilst some may feel that this further takes away from any indulgent usage experience, I didn't mind as I prefer products which don't interfere with the scent of my perfume.
My skin was left feeling soft, moisturised and nourished following use. Whilst the usage experience was disappointing for me personally, the results make it easy to see why The Body Shop's Body Butters remain so popular. I treat my skin to a weekly home facial (you may be familiar with my regular "Sunday Facial" series on Instagram) and inevitably, this incorporates a detox mask in one form or another so I felt justified in the purchase. It combines 2% niacinamide with triple clay, algae, salicylic acid and kombucha and is designed to purge pores of excess oil and dirt to leave skin clear, calm and balanced, without disrupting the skin barrier. It's vegan friendly too.

The packaging is in keeping with the cool branding of Youth To The People. Whilst I like the clean aesthetic, I'd have preferred the functionality of a tube which would allow for greater control when dispensing the product, as well as being more hygienic. As the tub is quite slimline, I do wonder how easy it'll be to access the mask as it nears the end.
The mask itself has a thick yet smooth creamy texture, with no particles and is blue-grey in colour. The scent is slightly earthy. A little goes a long way- I like to apply a thin, even layer to clean skin which I've spritzed with a little facial mist to prevent any dehydrating effects. It applies easily, feels gentle and doesn't feel irritating in any way on my skin. I appreciate that the mask gets to work in just 10 minutes so it's easy to fit into a home pamper routine and as it's not a messy, drippy mask, I can carry on with chores while the mask is on.
During the 10 minutes, the mask dries onto skin but it doesn't feel uncomfortable. It's satisfying to see where it's particularly getting to work as it turns white around patches of congestion and excess oil. After 10 minutes, the mask is easy to remove with a damp flannel (washcloth- this isn't included) and in my option, delivers on the claims as skin is left feeling clean but not compromised.
I feel that this detox mask would be well suited to all skin types but particularly oily or blemish prone. It's a very pleasant mask and at £33 for 59ml, it's fairly priced.

Cosrx is one of the better known K-beauty brands here in the West, thanks to their cult snail mucin essence and they're also more readily available than some, for example, some of the brand's products are stocked in Boots so today, I thought I'd share my thoughts on their Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50+.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0QGsafvTv64Xc1-A5ZWRDmVN6C9G_XDBINP2ryG6SVf_dIyDsodheRpFlNoLCn_MC08MdW4bvEKZCbJBkEkfrvxiPfnq4tDh1ZWfcIUxSgwcyoN6xsfPnJMnWqs78CFQW7c_YsRrBImyPvVkUJqVxWgTK1LKmrYO-qwJRSsACiLASVoztYe0Ahj-Jjc0/s5184/cosrxspf.JPG" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="400" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="5184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0QGsafvTv64Xc1-A5ZWRDmVN6C9G_XDBINP2ryG6SVf_dIyDsodheRpFlNoLCn_MC08MdW4bvEKZCbJBkEkfrvxiPfnq4tDh1ZWfcIUxSgwcyoN6xsfPnJMnWqs78CFQW7c_YsRrBImyPvVkUJqVxWgTK1LKmrYO-qwJRSsACiLASVoztYe0Ahj-Jjc0/s400/cosrxspf.JPG"/></a></div>
Typically for a K-beauty brand, the packaging is fairly miniamalist and almost clinical in design although it clearly communicates what the product is. The directions are clear and state to apply the "proper amount" (although there's no quantification over what this is). As an SPF50+ it appealed to me as this is the protection I tend to seek. It offers PA+++ protection but I'd have preferred the reassurance of PA++++ as this relates to the UVA protection against aging rays. It's a hybrid mineral and chemical sunscreen and is presented in a 50ml tube which is both travel friendly and functional for use too.
As the name suggests, Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50+ has a fresh aloe scent which I found pleasant. The name also reflects the texture of the product, which is a thicker (white) cream than I was originally expecting (purely based on my experience of using Korean formulas). That said, I found it easy to work into my skin. The sunscreen didn't feel heavy on my skin following application but was more hydrating than others I've tried, such as the Beauty of Joseon SPF. This is reflected in the finish on the skin, which is left looking hydrated and healthy with a "real skin" finish. It's neither mattifying nor glow enhancing. The name also includes the word "soothing" and at a stretch, I'd say that it feels fresh and mildly soothing on application, although this could be psychosomatic because of the aloe scent! I personally experienced no issues with sensitivity when applying around my eye area (the packaging advises against this but I always use SPF around my eyes).
The product layers well with other skincare products and makeup and I didn't notice any pilling, nor was there a white cast on my pale skin. I didn't experience any breakouts when using this on my acne prone skin.
As tends to be the case with Korean skincare, I feel that Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50+ represents good value for money at £14.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-70589908512069008472024-03-11T00:00:00.000-07:002024-03-11T13:34:32.929-07:00Speed Review: ARKIVE All Together Now Co Cleanse This is the first product I've tried from ARKIVE, the haircare brand by hairstylist Adam Reed. It's a brand which has appealed to me, despite typically finding it difficult to be excited by haircare, as I've heard positive feedback from those who have tried it. The brand is a certified B Corporation and products are both cruelty free and vegan friendly, with recycled plastic used in the packaging.
I was sent ARKIVE's All Together Now Co Cleanse for review. It's been a while since a co-wash featured in my hair routine. They were popular a few years ago and at the time, I was intrigued by the marketing, which essentially re-branded the "Wash and Go" adverts I remembered from my childhood! I've not heard a huge amount about them since that resurgence.

On first impressions, I liked the packagaing. The bold, block colour feels modern after years of beauty minimalism with brands such as The Ordinary and Glossier adopting clinical designs. It's fun but not out of place with the likes of Hair by Sam McKnight, Trinny London, Skin Rocks and Byoma all opting for similar in their packaging. The main downside is that it's hard to see how much product is remaining.
I found the directions clear and easy to follow although it'd be useful to have quantification over how much a "generous amount" to apply is. The directions also advise taking a little longer to rinse than you normally would which did make me question the rinsability and may have been offputting if I'd seen this in-store.
The product itself is a thick, white cream and for this reason, I feel a tube rather than the bottle with pump may have allowed for improved functionality. I found it easy to work through my hair. It has a neutral scent.
I was only able to work the product into a slight lather but I did appreciate how gentle it felt during use. Rinsing did take a little effort but I'd still say that it took less time than using two separate products and it certainly wasn't so cumbersome as to put me off. After showering, I combed through my damp hair and noticed that it felt more conditioned and I experienced fewer tangles than I recall from other co-washes. For me, this really sets ARKIVE All Together Now Co Cleanse apart from other similar products and would make me more likely to repurchase.
After drying and styling, my hair looked the same as it does when I follow a traditional routine and I appreciated that there hadn't been a noticable compromise as a result of using a 2-in-1 product. Admittedly, it didn't feel quite as soft and silky but the trade-off was that my fine hair felt thicker, with more volume and less weighing down than it sometimes can. I also appreciated that it didn't irritate my sensitive scalp.
I'm not going to swap my usual two-step routine for a co-wash as I do feel I need the additional conditioning benefits but this is a good product to have on hand for days when I'm short on time (the antithesis of "Everything Shower" days!). It'd also be a welcome addition to a gym bag and I think those with fine hair would particularly enjoy the results.
It's a generously sized 300ml yet costs just £13 which I feel is very reasonable indeed. Everything about ARKIVE All Together Now Co Cleanse- from the branding to the usage and results- feels more premium than the price tag suggests. Overall, I'm impressed!

On first impressions, the tube hand cream is aesthetically pleasing. I love that it features my favourite colour, yellow, to impart an instant sense of happiness! Plus, it's practical as it means it's easy to find in a crowded handbag. The 40ml size is travel friendly and the twist off lid means that it's secure from leakages.
The fragrance is described as "London via Tahiti", tying in with the sunshine yellow packaging. The description perfectly captures the scent, which is reminiscent of warmer days and holidays. If you like Elemis' Exotic range, then you'll also enjoy this as it features the same notes of tropical frangipani together with some of my favourites such as orange blossom, ylang-ylang and vanilla.
The texture is a true cream and feels silky to apply. It absorbs effortlessly and, key for me, doesn't leave a greasy residue so I can apply it then carry on with tasks. Hands are left feeling soft and conditioned, with a beautiful, uplifting scent.
I really do like everything about Molton Brown's Flora Luminare Hand Cream and am keen to try more from the same scent range. The Hand Cream costs £12 for 40ml so I feel it's an accessible luxury. The Multi Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum initially appealed to me as a multi-level hyaluronic (this means that it has different molecular sizes of hyaluronic acid to effectively penetrate the skin) but I also appreciate the inclusion of 8 antioxidants, Resveratrol and Peptides, which makes it a brilliant multi-tasking serum, ideal for those days when you're short on time and want a streamlined skincare routine. These multiple benefits also go some way towards justifying the price tag, which is undeniably hefty.

On first impressions, the packaging looks chic and I like the functionality of the pump dispenser (which I prefer for a serum over a pipette) but the opaque design means that it's not possible to see how much product is remaining.
The product has a lightweight yet creamy serum texture (it's not a clear liquid) which absorbs effortlessly into skin. It has a woodsy, botanical scent which won't be to everyone's liking but I personally found it to be comforting.
It feels very comfortable both on initial application and throughout the day, maintaining skin's hydration. I appreciated that it works well layered with other products and there's no sticky residue.
As you'd expect, it leaves skin feeling hydrated and looking more plump. I feel that most skin types would benefit from this serum- it's certainly benefitted my dehydrated, combination skin and I've not experienced any issues with breakouts as a result of using it. Head to my Instagram (@Skindeepblogger) Product Reviews Highlight if you'd like to see it in use.
At £80 for 30ml, this is a luxury purchase. Thanks to the price, I hate that I love it so much but it really is a quality, results-driven product and if you're looking to treat yourself, I don't think that you'd be disappointed. I'm already on my second bottle. Despite the wallet friendly price tag, The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm is presented inside of a box. Inside, you'll find a generously sized tube in the brand's signature monochrome design. The descriptions on the tube make it foolproof to use, clearly stating the purpose of the product, at which stage in a routine to use it as well as the time of day. Incidentally, it is stated as being suitable for morning use and whilst there's nothing stopping you from using this first thing, I personally don't feel the need to use a balm cleanser when I'm not yet wearing makeup or SPF.
I always appreciate a multi-tasker so it's worth noting that The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm can also be left on skin for 10 minutes as a nourishing face mask. I've tried this too and it leaves skin noticably softened.
I liked the functionality of the tube dispenser which feels more hygienic than sticking fingers into a pot. The texture of the balm is relatively thick but sufficiently soft so as to be able to squeeze out the desired amount and I've never had any issues with the tube clogging. A little goes a long way.
Despite the thick texture, I found it easy to work the Oat Cleansing Balm into my skin although it doesn't have as much "slip" as some. I also feel that you may prefer something lighter if you have oily or congested skin. To me, this feels perfectly suited to dry and sensitive skin types.
I enjoyed the scent which feels nostalgic and reminiscent of one of my first forays into cleansing balms with Lush's original Ultrabland.
Upon contact with water, it transforms into a lightweight milk and removes easily with a warm, wet flannel to gently cleanse skin of SPF and makeup. It left no residue on my skin. Following use, skin was left feeling thoroughly cleaned, fresh and conditioned, with no dry or tight feeling.
The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm costs £12 for 150ml which I feel represents fantastic value for money.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-17261578871036439852024-03-01T15:53:00.000-08:002024-03-01T15:53:32.728-08:00Speed Review: Ultraviolette Supreme Screen Hydrating Facial Skinscreen SPF50+I'm baaaack! I posted a poll on my Instagram and the general consensus was that a reignition of my blog, which I first started over a decade ago, would be welcomed... so after a much-too-long hiatus, here we are again! My plan is to focus on product reviews and I'll try to post a new review every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
It seems fitting to kick things off with a review of one of my favourite products... my favourite SPF. It couldn't come at a better time either, with a recent furore splitting social media into two camps: the SPF devotees (where I sit) and those who are less keen, to varying degrees, with the most extreme making (unsubstantiated) claims that it's a dangerous product to use. I've heard many excuses over the years from those who don't use SPF daily, ranging from the fact that it's bad weather (the sun is still there, even when it may not seem like it and those harmful rays can penetrate!) to the arugment that their makeup contains SPF (this is typically a low rating and a sufficient amount to obtain the advertised level is unlikely to be applied in a makeup product). Often, people claim that they don't like the feeling of SPF on their skin (modern formulas have come a long way!) or that it breaks them out (this is more likely to be the result of not thoroughly cleansing at the end of the day). I strongly urge those who remain unconvinced to check out Ultraviolette, the brand which is making SPF cool and this is partly down to their packaging which features unapologetically bright colours (I love that this makes the products easy to find in a crowded washbag!). My favourite of the Ultraviolette products I've tried is Supreme Screen Hydrating Facial Skinscreen SPF50+ and it seems I'm not alone, with this regularly topping the bestselling lists at the likes of Space NK.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh12YEdSphsGfylD-GB4KeWJ75LyqrZTMLGuP6bvB4QiyKtcuEZP21r_3FAhteOeClboN5tJmpL0f_ZSeJlkSmLxJT1P0sNi088SvwAI1RpmjtzHtdS2tQshyqyQG0Pk6sH8-xuWU4BUwZPsdH8muptfovU7-qKX3HrwJgs3_VKlrs138116ZgS0mkAkug/s5184/uvspf.JPG" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="400" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="5184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh12YEdSphsGfylD-GB4KeWJ75LyqrZTMLGuP6bvB4QiyKtcuEZP21r_3FAhteOeClboN5tJmpL0f_ZSeJlkSmLxJT1P0sNi088SvwAI1RpmjtzHtdS2tQshyqyQG0Pk6sH8-xuWU4BUwZPsdH8muptfovU7-qKX3HrwJgs3_VKlrs138116ZgS0mkAkug/s400/uvspf.JPG"/></a></div>
The packaging clearly communicates what the product is and how to use it, reiterating the daily use message. I appreciate the high protection rating at SPF50+ and it is also broad spectrum, offering both UVA and UVB shields. It's a hybrid sunscreen and the description also claims that it protects against damaging blue light emitted from screens although I remain on the fence about this.
Furthermore, the formula is infused with peptides and kakadu plum which is rich in vitamin C so provides the additional benefits of antioxidant protection to fight free radicals too.
I feel that the packaging of Supreme Screen is far superior to that of the brand's other cult bestseller, Queen Screen which is presented in a glass bottle with pipette dispenser. I'll forever be biased towards tubes with pumps- so chic, hygienic and functional- but I also find the packaging to be better suited to travel than Queen Screen (although, SPF is for life not just for holidays!). The 50ml size is flight friendly too although it is now available in a supersized bottle if of interest.
The packaging allows for controlled dispensing without wastage- don't forget that you need to apply sufficient product (2-3 fingers worth) to obtain the advertised SPF level. This is easy to do with Ultraviolette Supreme Screen Hydrating Facial Skinscreen SPF50+ and I personally like to apply lots of thin layers. I find this best in terms of usage experience, allowing for easy absorption and also as it reassures me that I'm thoroughly covering my skin without missing areas. I find it layers well with other products too and I've never noticed any pilling. It is also effective as a primer before makeup... after all, SPF is fairly grippy as it's intended to remain on skin!
Supreme Screen has quite a thick, cream texture (it's certainly not a lotion) but whilst it feels hydrating on the skin, it never feels heavy or uncomfortable. It's an elegant and modern formula. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and those with sensitive eyes, and I've never experienced any issues with it causing my acne prone skin to break out. On initial application, I sometimes notice a slight plastic scent but it's not particularly offensive and doesn't linger in any case.
When dispensed, the cream has a very subtle tint but it offers no coverage. I don't notice any white cast but admittedly, I do have pale skin so can't comment on how this would measure up on darker complexions.
As the name suggests and as aforementioned, it feels hydrating on the skin and in fact, in hotter weather I find that I can often forgo a separate moisturiser when using this on my combination skin. It simply leaves skin feeling soft and I trust the protection that this gives me. I absolutely love it.
Yes, there are cheaper SPFs on the market but I'm very happy to pay £34 for this and have already repurchased countless times. I can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you're seeking a hydrating SPF.

<br />
I always think of L'Oreal as offering good quality haircare products at affordable prices, which are usually fantastic value for money. I put this down to the group owning premium brands, e.g. Kerastase, which invest in research and these investments subsequently trickle down to the more wallet friendly brands within the family. As such, I always like to keep an eye out for offers on L'Oreal haircare (the brand is frequently on offer so I tend never to buy at full price). Having previously enjoyed the <a href="https://www.skindeepbeautyblog.com/2016/01/speed-review-loreal-elvive-fibrology.html" target="_blank">Fibrology Hair Mask</a> , I thought I'd try the conditioner from the same range which I spotted on offer recently.
The Fibrology range is aimed at those who, like me, have fine hair and as such, it appealed to me. The vibrant turquoise packaging also jumped out at me from the shop shelf and whilst the design reflects the mass branding of L'Oreal and isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, it is easily recognisable. I didn't see any directions for use on the packaging but arguably, that's not necessary for a conditioner.
The plastic bottle features a flip top lid on the bottom of the packaging which I found to be functional. It meant that it was easy to dispense the conditioner in a controlled way, helping to avoid wastage.
L'Oreal Fibrology Conditioner is a white cream, similar in texture to a lotion. I found it easy to work through my hair and a little goes a long way, further emphasising the value for money message. The conditioner has a sweet, fruity fragrance which wasn't my favourite but nor was it offensive and I couldn't detect it in my hair following use.
I did find that the conditioner took a little more effort than some to be completely rinsed out of my hair, which was a little frustrating and for this reason, I might be put off repurchasing. That said, I was impressed with the results as my fine hair was left shiny and feeling soft. It had good movement and wasn't weighed down and most importantly, I feel that the conditioner lived up to the claims because my hair appeared fuller.
L'Oreal Fibrology Conditioner costs £4.99 for 400ml.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-72918635462108897722021-05-08T04:08:00.004-07:002021-05-08T04:08:56.904-07:00Speed Review: Sukin Botanical Body Wash in Lime and Coconut

<br />
Hello! Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?! Life has somewhat gotten in the way but I'm back with a review today, easing in gently with a body wash review.
I've previously tried a few products from natural, Australian brand, Sukin and must confess that I've found them to be a little hit & miss. That said, this body wash appealed to me both in terms of the scent description (I love anything tropical!) and I also liked the packaging, which clearly communicates the natural ethos of the brand. On the plastic bottle, there's a description on the front which states that the product is a botanical body wash which is both sulphate and paraben free. This also appealed to me as I tend to prefer sulphate free body washes, which I tend to find are less drying to the skin. Further, numerous, claims on the back include the fact that it's free from mineral oil, vegan friendly and carbon neutral (perhaps not once it's been shipped from Australia, but we'll let that one slide).
I appreciated the functionality of the pump dispenser which helped to prevent wastage. I also liked that the generously sized bottle was sufficiently transparent so that I could tell how much product was remaining.
The Body Wash itself is a clear gel texture which I was able to work into a lather. The scent was as expected- a lovely combination of zesty lime with a hint of coconut, which wasn't sickly or synthetic. I couldn't detect the fragrance following use but my skin was left feeling wonderfully fresh and clean.
I feel that £9.95 for 500ml represents good value for money. I found Sukin Botanical Body Wash in Lime and Coconut to be a pleasure to use and it's a product which I'd repurchase. <br />
<br />
Simple is a brand which really seems to have stood the test of time and when you look at the brand formula, it's perhaps unsurprising. The products are affordable and readily available and pitched as being gentle and "kind to skin".<br />
<br />
Today's review is of Simple's Hydrating Cleansing Oil. Regular readers will know that my preferred method of cleansing, particularly in the mornings, is using a cleansing oil. As a general rule, I like cleansing oils because I find them to offer gentle yet effective cleansing, whilst having a balancing effect on my combination, acne prone skin. It's great to see that such an affordable and mainstream brand is now offering a cleansing oil and I hope that this product will introduce many to just how good they are as part of an effective skincare regime.<br />
<br />
Simple describe Hydrating Cleansing Oil as being for thoroughly clean and touchably soft skin. It is made with 100% natural grapeseed oil and enriched with Vitamin A & E to dissolve impurities and remove makeup, leaving skin deeply clean and well hydrated. It's described as being a gentle, hydrating, soothing and effective way to cleanse and lift away even waterproof makeup without stripping or irritating the skin.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, the packaging reflects the affordable price tag. Whilst it's not my favourite, I was drawn to this product for the reasons mentioned above- my curiosity was certainly peaked! I appreciated being able to see how much product was remaining as well as the functionality of the flip top lid. Whilst in no way appropriate for travel, the packaging did allow for controlled dispensing of the oil.<br />
<br />
Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil is a colourless and unscented oil (unsurprising, given the brand). I'd describe it as having a medium texture for a cleansing oil- it's not overly rich but nor was it noticeably light either. It's inoffensive and again, in line with the branding, would appeal to most people. I feel that this would be a good introduction to cleansing oils.<br />
<br />
Inherently for an oil, it lent itself well to facial massage. On contact with water, it turned into a lightweight milk which was easy to rinse away.<br />
<br />
I was impressed with this cleansing oil. I feel that it delivers on the claims. I'd had some irritated skin as a result of a product I tested not agreeing with me and this was the perfect "no nonsense" cleanser to gently cleanse my skin. It felt soothing. I was also impressed at how effective this was at makeup removal- whilst I still needed to use a separate eye makeup remover, it did seem more effective than others I've tried.<br />
<br />
My only complaint would be the size of the bottle. It almost feels like a "try me" size (again, a good introduction to cleansing oils!) at just 125ml. I'd like to see this offered in a larger size as well, in a similar way to how Garnier present their cleansing water in different sizing options. I feel that the price tag of £6.99 is excessive given the size, despite enjoying the product, but Simple is often on offer so I'd recommend keeping an eye out for deals and giving it a try then.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-10606164143102954132020-05-11T03:31:00.001-07:002020-05-11T03:31:23.680-07:00Speed Review: Davines Dede Conditioner<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I'm not sure if I've ever reviewed a Davines product on here before. It's a brand which I've often admired from a distance but with which I don't claim to be overly familiar. To provide a bit of background, Davines is an Italian brand, predominately producing haircare products, which started in 1983 as a family company (spa brand [comfort zone] are part of the same group). They have a long-time focus upon sustainability which adds an authenticity in a marketplace where many are only just starting to mention green credentials.<br />
<br />
I've recently been using Davines Dede Conditioner, which is aimed at those with medium to fine textured hair and for frequent shampooing. I'd say that I fall into both of those categories- my hair is fine and as such, needs to be washed fairly frequently. Davines describe Dede Conditioner as having a light and moisturising formulation, designed to untangle hair and leave it soft and light, without weighing it down.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, my attention was captured by the unusual plastic tub presentation. The packaging is effortlessly cool, in keeping with the brand image and I was happy to have it on display in my bathroom. What's more, as the packaging is transparent, I liked that I was able to see how much product was remaining.<br />
<br />
Davines Dede Conditioner has a thick cream texture, perhaps a little surprising given that it's aimed at those with fine hair. I found the tub presentation made usage rather messy- whilst the flip top lid is fairly watertight, it was awkward having to scoop out the product using my hands. That said, I though that the presentation was well suited to the thick texture of the product and I didn't have any issues with wastage. A little goes a long way.<br />
<br />
Despite the thick texture, I found it easy to work the conditioner through my hair. Furthermore, it was effortless to rinse out. Again, perhaps surprising given the thick texture.<br />
<br />
I found the scent to be highly perfumed during use but I wasn't able to detect this once my hair had been dried and styled. Following use, my hair was left smoothed, with frizz diminished. It was manageable and as per the company's claims, my fine hair wasn't weighed down.<br />
<br />
Overall, I enjoyed using this product. The price tag reflects the luxury branding at £18.60 for 250ml but I also feel that it's a good quality conditioner.<br />

<br />
I'm a long time fan of Soap and Glory and think they're hard to beat when it comes to affordable body care but l must confess that I'm a bit out of the loop on their latest launches- the range is so big now that it's hard to keep up! Today's review is of an old favourite, Whipped Clean Shower Butter, which I've recently revisited.<br />
<br />
Described as a shower gel and moisturiser in one, Whipped Clean Shower Butter is made up of 25% moisture oils and butters including sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, macadamia nut oil and cocoa & shea butters.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, both the packaging and the concept appealed to me. I'm notoriously lazy when it comes to body moisturiser but my parched skin does need something to prevent me resembling a lizard! The tube design is in keeping with Soap & Glory's branding- it's instantly recognisable thanks to the pink colour scheme (the wall of pink in my local Boots store always appeals to me!) and retro imagery. I found the tube functional and it allowed for easy dispensing of the thick cream product, however, the only downside was that it was difficult to dispense when I was nearly finished the tube and therefore, I'd recommend cutting the tube open to obtain every last drop and avoid wastage.<br />
<br />
As tends to be the case with Soap and Glory products, the scent was incredible. The brand describe it as pistachio, almond and sweet vanilla. It reminded me of birthday cake scented products but I didn't personally find it too sickly sweet. I wasn't able to detect the fragrance on my skin following use so there was no interference with my other products, such as perfume.<br />
<br />
I was able to work the thick cream into a rich, creamy lather and found that it lent itself particularly well to shaving legs.<br />
<br />
Although no residue was left on my skin, I was just about able to forgo moisturiser as my skin was left feeling nourished and softened.<br />
<br />
I really enjoyed using Soap and Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter and would definitely consider repurchasing.<br />

Soap and Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter costs £7 for 250ml.<br />

<br />
It'll come as no surprise to long-time followers of Skin Deep that the subject of today's review is DHC's Pore Cleansing Oil. For those that don't know, cleansing with an oil is my preferred way of cleaning my face and my all time favourite is the cult DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. As such, whilst I don't have any major concerns about pores, I was excited to see what the brand's other cleansing oil offering was like.<br />
<br />
DHC describe Pore Cleansing Oil as, "Oily skin has met its match. Pore Cleansing Oil works on the scientific premise that "like attracts like"- its nourishing oils bind with sebum, unclog pores and remove all traces of stubborn makeup. Calendula flower soothes, while a blend of citrus extracts helps to tone and brighten skin. Your complexion is left balanced, soft and revitalised."<br />
<br />
I like their description and completely agree that those with oily skin (I'd describe mine as combination) shouldn't fear oils for the very reason DHC describe, explaining that applying oils to oily skin actually has a balancing effect.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, the packaging isn't the most exciting but the minimalist feel is in line with DHC's branding. A plastic bottle is presented in an outer box with the same design. It features a functional pump (just one pump released sufficient product to cover my entire face- a little goes a long way!), helping to avoid wastage. I'd have preferred if the bottle were transparent so as to be able to see how much product was remaining but appreciate that the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is in a transparent bottle & that this needs to be differentiated.<br />
<br />
DHC Pore Cleansing Oil had a gel-like texture, much more so than any cleansing oil I've tried previously and for this reason it might be a good introduction to oils or choice for those who are wary of cleansing oils feeling greasy. Nonetheless, it was easy to work into my skin. The scent was pleasant. I'd describe it as fresh citrus with a slight medicinal hint to it too.<br />
<br />
The cleanser turned into a lightweight milk upon contact with water and had average rinsability. Whilst I felt that it was effective in cleaning my skin, I did need to use a separate eye makeup remover to get rid of all traces of makeup. I can't say that I noticed any particular difference to my pores but as I mentioned at the beginning, that's not a huge concern of mine. For me personally, DHC Deep Cleansing Oil remains my preferred option and given that it's suitable for all skin types, would be the one I'd recommend.<br />

<br />
I haven't tried many products from the John Masters Organics range but have liked those which I have tried so was excited to try their new Repair Hair Mask with Honey and Hibiscus.<br />
<br />
John Masters Organics describe the recently launched product as "a rich and decadent, silicone-free hair mask that puts hair into rehab. This weekly rescue for extremely dry, damaged hair restores hair structure, locks in moisture and protects hair from further damage. A fusion of organic honey and organic hibiscus work together to restore shine, moisture and manageability, while conditioning bacuri butter and mongogo oil replenish strands. Hair is left stronger, softer and healthier."<br />
<br />
Unusually for a hair mask, it's presented in a plastic bottle with a pump. Whilst this might make it harder to identify on a shop shelf, I liked that it's a little different. The brown colour of the plastic bottle isn't the most appealing but I like the overall brand ethos of John Masters Organics so for that reason, I was happy to have it on display in my bathroom. Of course, I'd have preferred if the bottle were transparent to be able to see how much product was remaining- I always do. The directions were clear and easy to follow and I appreciated that the mask gets to work in just 3-5 minutes.<br />
<br />
I was initially worried that the pump dispenser wouldn't be suited to the mask formula but I was wrong. The mask has a lightweight cream texture which I found easy to dispense using the pump and actually found that this helped to control how much product I was using, avoiding wastage. That said, I did need quite a few pumps in order to release sufficient product for my long hair. I found the texture easy to work through my hair.<br />
<br />
My main recollection, based on the products I've previously tried from John Masters Organics, is of the amazing, natural fragrances and the Repair Hair Mask with Honey and Hibiscus didn't disappoint. It has an incredible botanical fragrance which reiterated the natural branding and added to the sense of indulgence during use. I also noticed that it lingered in my hair following use.<br />
<br />
I found the mask relatively easy to rinse out of my hair. I did feel as though there was some residue but it didn't feel uncomfortable or unpleasant- I'd describe it as feeling as though it was adding something to my hair to lock in moisture and protect (in any case, I really like the inclusion of heat protecting ingredients within the formula).<br />
<br />
Whilst I describe my fine hair as being in average condition (I don't colour treat it, I heat style approximately once or twice a week and I'm pretty good at keeping up with my treatment regime), i.e. it's not the dry, damaged hair which this mask is meant to target, I nonetheless enjoyed using John Masters Organics Repair Hair Mask with Honey and Hibiscus. It left my hair feeling touchably soft, looking smoothed and shiny and it felt wonderfully conditioned, whilst also being manageable. I'd agree that it lives up to the claims.<br />
<br />
At £39 for 125g product, John Masters Organics Repair Hair Mask with Honey and Hibiscus is undeniably expensive. That said, I feel that it's a quality product and as aforementioned, it delivers results. Furthermore, it ticks the "free from" boxes and has a natural ethos so if all of these factors are important to you, I'd say it's definitely worth checking out.<br />

<br />
I don't know much about the brand, Maui Moisture but believe they are typically associated with hair care products. As such, it may be surprising that the first product I decided to try from the range is a body wash. The body washes are, in fact, a new addition to the line up (along with the introduction of scrubs and lotions). I picked this up when it was on offer in Boots recently- the "Frangipani" name appealed to me as I love this tropical flower, which reminds me of holidays. It's a relatively unusual ingredient within beauty products although Elemis' ever-popular Exotic range has products based around it.<br />
<br />
Maui Moisture describe the product as, "Fragrant frangipani is infused into this gentle body wash, blended with exotic orchid extract and bright cypress oil. This formula helps soothe and nourish your skin to get back a healthy looking glow. Unlike some other body products that start with deionized water, Maui Moisture starts with a unique blend with aloe vera and is infused with coconut water. The results? Moisturised skin and a healthy-looking glow with every use!"<br />
<br />
To me, the packaging has a very American feel in terms of the branding. It's a big plastic, squared bottle at over 500ml. Whilst the packaging clearly communicates the key ingredients of frangipani, orchid extract and cypress oil, along with the fact that the Body Wash is sulphate free, the packaging doesn't particularly highlight the aloe vera base which is surprising given the emphasis that the brand seems to place on this, e.g. on their website. I appreciated that the bottle wasn't opaque so that I could tell how much product was remaining as I used it.<br />
<br />
Maui Moisture Frangipani Body Wash has a thick jelly texture and I felt that this reiterated the message about the base ingredient being aloe vera. I found the flip top lid on the packaging wasn't best suited to the texture (a tube presentation might be better) as it was a little difficult to control how much product was dispensed and I felt like I was wasting some of the product. That said, I was able to work the jelly into a generous lather so for that reason a little goes a long way. I found this to be particularly impressive given that the product is sulphate free. The Body Wash has a fresh, floral scent and I found it very pleasant to use. That said, the scent didn't linger on my skin following use.<br />
<br />
Following use, my skin felt fresh, clean and hydrated (although not to the extent that I could forgo body moisturiser). I enjoyed using Maui Moisture Frangipani Body Wash and would be keen to check out more from the range in future- perhaps the dry body oil from the same range next.<br />

<br />
I'm a big fan of Elemental Herbology but must confess to being most familiar with their skincare, and less so with the body care range.<br />
<br />
I was recently sent Elemental Herbology Watermelon & Cucumber Body Moisturiser. The brand say, "this high-performance body moisturiser helps optimise the life of your tan whilst soothing and cooling the skin. Light and non-greasy, this moisturiser contains cooling and nourishing botanicals, ideal for the summer months."<br />
<br />
On first impressions, I liked the packaging which is a plastic bottle with functional pump dispenser. It's in keeping with the branding of Elemental Herbology and looks effortlessly chic- I was happy to have it on display in my bathroom. What's more, I appreciated that the bottle is sufficiently transparent so as to be able to see how much product was remaining. I found the directions clear and also liked the explanation of the key ingredients.<br />
<br />
Aside from the brand's description, the Watermelon & Cucumber name gave me the impression that this would be soothing & cooling on the skin, with a fresh scent. Whilst it is indeed soothing and cooling on the skin (and yes, it's perfect for summer use but I'd actually say that it would work well year-round, e.g. to soothe central-heating parched winter skin), the scent wasn't the fresh, fruity (& perhaps sickly) fragrance which I was expecting. Instead, it's a grown-up, spa-like botanical fragrance which I found really indulgent and added to my enjoyment whilst using the product. Following use, I noticed that the scent lingered delicately on my skin.<br />
<br />
The pump is well suited to the texture of the product, which is lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin. I'd say that it's akin to a body lotion (so perhaps those who prefer a richer cream in the winter months might enjoy this more as a summer product). There was absolutely no greasy residue left on my skin following use but my skin was left feeling wonderfully hydrated and conditioned.<br />
<br />
At £22 for 290ml, Elemental Herbology Watermelon & Cucumber Body Moisturiser isn't a cheap product but I feel that the price reflects the quality of the ingredients and the indulgence factor of the finished product. It would make a lovely gift- or treat to self!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-51195968035131357582019-09-17T09:06:00.000-07:002019-09-17T09:06:04.015-07:00Speed Review: Superdrug Naturally Radiant 2-In-1 Moisturiser and Serum<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've previously tried a couple of products from Superdrug's Naturally Radiant range, namely the <a href="https://www.skindeepbeautyblog.com/2016/01/speed-review-superdrug-naturally.html" target="_blank">Hot Cloth Cleanser and Brightening Renewal Face Mask</a>, both of which I quite liked. As such, when I was browsing the shelves of Superdrug recently, I decided to try out another product from the range and opted for the 2-In-1 Moisturiser and Serum.<br />
<br />
Superdrug Naturally Radiant 2-In-1 Moisturiser and Serum is described by the brand as being formulated with a unique energising complex and infused with kiwi fruit & mulberry extracts to help even out skin tone. They state that it is enriched with nourishing fruit acids and that it has a rich, velvety formula to deliver long-lasting moisturisation, whilst also helping to refine skin texture & clarify, for a smoother & more radiant complexion.<br />
<br />
I feel that Superdrug have been quite clever in the naming of this range- after all, who doesn't want naturally radiant skin?! The range has gained something of a following within the blogging community and it is certainly the range which I always have a glance at in Superdrug, in case there's anything new which jumps out to me.<br />
<br />
Superdrug Naturally Radiant 2-In-1 Moisturiser and Serum is packaged in a small plastic bottle with a pump and this is presented inside an outer box, which adds a little something extra considering it's an affordable brand. That said, I wouldn't say that there's anything luxurious about the packaging. The green colour and text isn't the most modern and it's obvious from the packaging that it's an affordable product. Whilst I appreciated the functionality of the pump dispenser, which lends itself well to the texture of the product and also helps to avoid wastage, I would have preferred if the bottle were transparent in some way so as to be able to tell how much product was remaining.<br />
<br />
I found that 2 pumps provided sufficient product to cover my face and as such, it feels as though the bottle would last a while & provide good value for money. The texture is an opaque gel and during use, it reminded me more of a primer than a serum. Despite initially feeling as though it was merely sitting on my skin, I did find the product to be easily absorbed. It has a pleasant, fresh & fruity fragrance which I didn't find overpowering.<br />
<br />
Personally, I don't think that this is a 2-In-1 moisturiser for all skin types. Certainly, I couldn't forgo moisturiser and still used it on top. That said, those who usually choose to skip this step or those with very oily skin might get on well with this product.<br />
<br />
This isn't my favourite serum and whilst my skin was left feeling hydrated, it wasn't to the same extent as with other products I've used. I feel that the claims are rather over-enthusiastic and as a result, the product is a little disappointing because it fails to deliver on them in my opinion. That said, if you take the claims with a pinch of salt and want a simple product, this might be worth a look. It worked well under makeup but I wouldn't say that it particularly boosted my skin's radiance.<br />
<br />
At £5.99 for 50ml, this is an affordable product but one which I personally wouldn't repurchase, simply because there are other serums which I prefer.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-89901699600847536602019-09-12T03:00:00.000-07:002019-09-12T03:00:08.902-07:00Speed Review: Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I recently reviewed <a href="https://www.skindeepbeautyblog.com/2019/07/speed-review-palmers-coconut-oil.html" target="_blank">Palmer's Coconut Oil Repairing Conditioner</a> and following on from that, today's review is of the Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo.<br />
<br />
Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo is described as a rich, creamy shampoo which gently cleanses and removes build-up without stripping hair or interrupting its delicate moisture balance. It contains ethically and sustainably sourced coconut oil and Tahitian Monoi, infused with Tiare flower petals.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, I thought that the packaging looked cheap and a little dated. Whilst I appreciated the details of what the shampoo is "free from", I must confess to an eye roll when I noticed the gluten free claims- after all, I don't intend to eat my shampoo! I also found the name "Conditioning Shampoo" a little confusing and initially thought that it might be intended for use as a co-wash, however, the clear directions recommend that it be followed with a conditioner.<br />
<br />
I liked that the plastic bottle is transparent, allowing me to see how much product was remaining. It features a flip top lid for dispensing the product.<br />
<br />
Unsurprisingly, Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo has a coconut fragrance which I personally didn't find very indulgent. I was, however, quite surprised at the texture of Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo. Everything from the name to the appearance of the product through the plastic bottle made me expect a thick formula but its actually quite a liquid gel. Despite being sulphate free, it produced an impressive lather. As such, a little goes a long way and I feel that the 400ml bottle would last a long time. I really enjoyed the usage and in particular, the fact that the lather felt silky, suggestive of the natural oils within the formula. This added a more luxurious feel to the product and is the factor which made me most tempted to continue using the shampoo. The rinsability was average.<br />
<br />
The first time I used Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo, I hadn't read the instructions and so I did use it as a co-wash, forgoing a separate conditioner. Despite this not being its intended use, I was pleased with the results. That said, I only have fine hair and those whose hair tangles easily probably couldn't get away with skipping conditioner with this shampoo.<br />
<br />
Following use, I could detect a very subtle scent of coconut in my hair. My hair was left feeling soft but I wouldn't say shine was particularly enhanced.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, I felt as though Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo irritated my sensitive scalp. That said, whilst I had really expected to hate the shampoo, I actually really enjoyed the usage (as aforementioned) and even though I've decided to discontinue use on my hair, I'll be keeping hold of the bottle because I feel that it will be a good shampoo for cleaning my makeup brushes with.<br />

<br />
Today's review is of OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner, which I was recently sent to try. I've tried a few products from OGX over the years but wasn't previously familiar with the Coconut Milk range.<br />
<br />
In describing the range, which comprises the Shampoo & Conditioner (including travel sized versions) along with an oil mist and serum, OGX state, "Is your hair ready for a tropical holiday? Retreat to the islands. This exclusive blend with coconut milk, egg white proteins and coconut oils helps bring out your hair's natural strength, elasticity, hydration and balance- all with a shine inspired by the tropics."<br />
<br />
On first impressions, I thought that the packaging was in keeping with the OGX branding and affordable price point. Personally, I'd have preferred if there was something other than the text on the plastic bottles to differentiate between the Shampoo & Conditioner for ease of use in the shower, although some customers may like that they match. Admittedly, the colour coding to reflect the key ingredient does make shopping the ranges (there's quite a few!) easier in store. Both bottles feature flip top lid dispensers and I found the directions to be clear and easy to follow.<br />
<br />
Firstly, I tried the OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo which is described as a "deliciously creamy and nourishing blend... helps to strengthen and hydrate your hair, leaving it softly scented, super soft and glowing". The shampoo is a white gel and I found the flip top lid dispenser well suited to the texture of the product. I was able to work the shampoo into a generous lather, which rinsed away easily (as tends to be the case with shampoo).<br />
<br />
Next up, the OGX Coconut Milk Conditioner. This is designed to leave hair with "more strength and elasticity, and a hint of the tropics that will float with you all day." Further to my earlier comments about wishing that the two products had different packaging, when I came to use the conditioner, I felt even more strongly about this. The conditioner is a thick white cream and whilst I found it was ok to dispense using the flip top lid dispenser at first, as more of the product was used, it was more of a struggle. I feel that the texture means that the conditioner would be better suited to packaging such as a tube. Packaging aside, I found the conditioner easy to work through my hair. When it came to rinsing, I'd say that the conditioner had average rinsability.<br />
<br />
Both products have a sweet coconut fragrance which is an obvious choice to match the key ingredient. I found it to be reminiscent of holidays, as will be the case for many people. The scent lingered delicately in my hair once it was dried and styled.<br />
<br />
Following use, my hair was left looking shiny and feeling very soft. I also noticed that tangles were noticeably reduced so the products might be worth a look if this is a concern for you. I was impressed that my sensitive scalp wasn't irritated but did find that my roots became greasy very quickly (which is unusual for me) so these products are probably best suited to someone with dry hair.<br />
<br />
I wasn't "wowed" by OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner but they did the job and are fine as an affordable duo if you pick them up on offer. In my opinion, they aren't worth the £7 each (for 385ml) price tag.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-66046012256399924772019-08-27T02:30:00.000-07:002019-08-27T02:30:09.208-07:00Speed Review: Sampar Skin Quenching Mist <br />

I was recently sent some products as an introduction to the brand, Sampar. I wasn't previously familiar with Sampar. It's described as an urban brand aimed at demanding women looking for smart products. There's a specific focus on anti-pollution and on optimising the effectiveness of active ingredients.<br />
<br />
Given the time of year and recent hot weather, I decided to try the Skin Quenching Mist first. There are three ways in which I most commonly use a facial spritzer: as an additional hydrating step in between cleansing and applying my facial serum to help lock in moisture, during travel for a refreshing boost, or reaching for it on my desk for a quick pick-me-up during the working day (especially since giving up caffeine!).<br />
<br />
Sampar Skin Quenching Mist is described by the brand as a moisturising face toner, suitable for all skin types and particularly sensitive skin. They state that it has a "barely-there" texture and that it locks in make-up and shields against outside irritants. It is designed to be used in the morning and/ or evening either alone or after cleansing, and to leave skin feeling soothed. It contains cornflower, lime blossom and orange blossom waters along with geranium essential oil.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, I liked the packaging. The matte finish and simple design add a luxe feel, whilst the pale pink colour and line design of the Paris skyline give a cool girly vibe. A couple of downsides to note are that the bottle isn't transparent so I couldn't tell how much product was remaining. Also, it's a generous 200ml which means I'd have to discount this as an option for use during travel. The directions are simple yet clear.<br />
<br />
The spritzer delivered a fine mist which I found worked well over makeup and as such, I'd be inclined to keep this on my desk at work. It instantly cooled and refreshed my skin. The pleasant, delicate & soft fragrance hints at the natural ingredients. I found it enjoyable to use. It left my skin feeling soft and hydrated.<br />
<br />
I'd agree that Sampar Skin Quenching Mist would work well for any skin type. It costs £23 for 200ml.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-55297830383215833092019-08-22T14:09:00.000-07:002019-08-22T14:09:00.235-07:00Speed Review: Noughty Detox Dynamo Clarifying Shampoo<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Noughty Haircare first captured my attention when I was searching for an affordable option which ticks plenty of "free from" boxes. This range certainly does that, along with being vegan friendly.<br />
<br />
Noughty describe the creatively-named Detox Dynamo as helping to lift away build-up caused by urban pollution, hard water (interestingly!), chlorine & styling products thanks to the inclusion of detoxifying peppermint and sorrel leaf extracts. It's a 97% natural blend which is designed to gently cleanse & purify, leaving hair feeling fresh & clean.<br />
<br />
The bold design of the packaging means that it's eye-catching on crowded shop shelves. It reflects the branding and clearly communicates what the product is, as well as what it's "free from". I found the directions easy to follow, noting that Detox Dynamo should be used "every third wash".<br />
<br />
I appreciated the functionality of the tube packaging, which allows for controlled dispensing without wastage.<br />
<br />
Noughty Detox Dynamo Clarifying Shampoo is what I'd describe as a "cloudy" gel, with a relatively liquid texture. I was impressed that it was easy to work into a generous lather, despite being sulphate free. It had a clean scent. As tends to be the case with shampoos, I found that it rinsed away effortlessly.<br />
<br />
I feel that Noughty Detox Dynamo Clarifying Shampoo delivers on the claims of the company because my hair was left feeling thoroughly cleaned. My hair felt healthy and weightless, and I was impressed that it didn't irritate my sensitive scalp. I wouldn't say that I love it quite so much as clarifying shampoos I've tried from salon brands such as <a href="https://www.skindeepbeautyblog.com/2015/08/speed-review-clynol-hair-expert-clear.html" target="_blank">Clynol</a> and <a href="https://www.skindeepbeautyblog.com/2018/03/speed-review-paul-mitchell-clarifying.html" target="_blank">Paul Mitchell</a> but for an affordable option, I'd say it's hard to beat and at £6.99 for 250ml, I feel it represents good value. I'd consider repurchasing and would recommend checking it out.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-71204760513363135382019-08-20T01:00:00.000-07:002019-08-20T01:00:03.734-07:00Speed Review: Aroma Actives Perfecting Day Serum<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Aroma Actives is a wallet friendly skincare line created by the late founder of one of my all-time favourite beauty brands, Aromatherapy Associates. Aromatherapy Associates is undeniably pricey but I feel that the prices are justified by the high quality ingredients and as such, I was intrigued as to how this could translate into a budget range. That said, I really trust Aromatherapy Associates and like the story behind this range. The subject of today's review is the Perfecting Day Serum from the range.<br />
<br />
On first impressions, I loved everything about the packaging. The design is clean and minimal but clearly communicates the natural yet active message. It's very cleverly put together branding and I feel that the packaging looks more high end than the price tag suggests. In particular, I love the presentation of Perfecting Day Serum, which is a tube with a pump. Oh how I love a tube with a pump! I wish more skincare brands would present their products in this way.<br />
<br />
Aroma Actives Perfecting Day Serum has a lightweight cream texture. 1-2 pumps of the tube gave sufficient product to cover my entire face and as such, I feel that the tube would last for some time. It's worth nothing that the tube provides 50ml of product- many serums I've tried are only 30ml.<br />
<br />
The botanical scent reiterates the natural ingredients and makes for indulgent usage. It feels reminiscent of a spa brand and this really adds a sense of luxury.<br />
<br />
I found the serum to be easily absorbed and despite the creamy texture, it felt lightweight on my skin, not greasy or heavy. It didn't interfere with the application of other products.<br />
<br />
Following use, my skin felt soft, smooth and wonderfully hydrated.<br />
<br />
It's hard to believe that Aroma Actives Perfecting Day Serum is priced just £12.99 for 50ml. It represents incredibly good value for money and I'd highly recommend checking this product out.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-6231444145043656732019-08-15T03:00:00.000-07:002019-08-15T03:00:03.950-07:00Speed Review: Dove Coconut Oil Shower and Shave Mousse<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I quite like shower mousses as they work effectively to double up as a shaving foam. I believe Imperial Leather were the first to bring out such a product- it's certainly the brand which springs to mind when I think of a shower mousse and the one with which I'm most familiar. For that reason, much of today's review will be something of a comparison, as I found it hard to avoid doing so.<br />
<br />
It seems as though I'm not alone in liking the concept of a shower mousse- that's if the current influx of brands recently adding a shower mousse to their range is anything to go by. Clarins, Dove, Nivea, Radox and Original Source all feature shower mousses in their line up now. I decided to try out the Dove Coconut Oil Shower and Shave Mousse as it was on introductory offer in Boots.<br />
<br />
Interestingly, Dove actually promote the fact that the shower mousse doubles as a shave foam by incorporating a mention of this on the packaging & reflecting it in the official name on the website. The packaging is simple and in keeping with the Dove branding. I liked the inclusion of a "scratch and sniff" sticker which made choosing the scent in store easier- there's a choice of Argan Oil, Acai, Rose or Coconut Oil, which I opted for.<br />
<br />
The aerosol pump makes for easy dispensing although it's a little difficult to tell how much product is remaining, owing to the can packaging (I don't know how else they could present it though).<br />
<br />
Unlike Imperial Leather, which comes out as a gel before transforming to a foam (akin to a shaving gel), Dove Coconut Oil Shower and Shave Mousse was dispensed as a rich and creamy foam. A little goes a long way. I found it a little softer in texture than the Imperial Leather versions I've tried but agree that it works just as well to use when shaving legs.<br />
<br />
Personally, I couldn't detect coconut in the scent during use. To me, it smelt sweet- more like vanilla than coconut- but it wasn't sickly. I could only detect the scent very subtly on my skin following use.<br />
<br />
After use, my skin felt soft but not stripped or dry. That said, I still needed to moisturise.<br />
<br />
I found Dove Coconut Oil Shower and Shave Mousse pleasant to use. Overall, I think I prefer the Imperial Leather versions but that may simply be because I'm more accustomed to using the brand. I probably wouldn't repurchase the Dove version at full price (£4.89 for 200ml) but might be inclined to try other scents from the Dove range, if on offer, in future.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832811085196845203.post-23717214499377951772019-08-13T03:26:00.000-07:002019-08-13T03:26:03.597-07:00Speed Review: Wella Enrich Moisturising Conditioner for Fine to Normal Hair<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span id="goog_403977154"></span><span id="goog_403977155"></span><br />
I originally decided to try Wella Enrich Moisturising Conditioner for Fine to Normal Hair based on a Twitter recommendation and, spoiler alert, I'm so pleased that I did!<br />
<br />
On first impressions, the bright tube and minimalist design reflects the salon branding. It is clear which hair type it's aimed at (fine to normal, which is my hair type so appealed to me) and the directions are also easy to follow. I appreciated the functionality of the tube dispenser- it's generally my preference when it comes to conditioners as tubes allow for controlled dispensing without wastage.<br />
<br />
Wella Enrich Moisturising Conditioner for Fine to Normal Hair has a lightweight cream texture which I found easy to work through my hair. It has a pleasant, fresh and fruity fragrance.<br />
<br />
When it came to rinsing the conditioner away, I was able to do so with ease.<br />
<br />
Following use, my hair felt wonderfully soft and well conditioned/ cared for. I could detect the scent ever-so-subtly. Whilst Wella Enrich Moisturising Conditioner for Fine to Normal Hair isn't the most smoothing I've tried (I still had some flyaways, but nothing that couldn't be tamed with a little dry oil spray), I was impressed that it didn't weigh down my fine hair and I feel that it delivers on the claims.<br />
<br />
Overall, I found Wella Enrich Moisturising Conditioner for Fine to Normal Hair enjoyable to use and was impressed with the results. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you have this hair type.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
