Breaking News: John Galliano dismissed from Dior

Following allegations of pro-Nazi leanings and anti-Semitic slurs, John Galliano has been dismissed from his role as Creative Director at Dior with immediate effect. The undenibly talented 50 year old designer would have been celebrating 15 years with the fashion house next year. The fashion world has been filled with rumours about the flamboyant designer's alcohol and substance abuse for a number of years now and it seems that he was under the influence when he allegedgly made the remarks. However, if true, the comments are so offensive that it's unthinkable that any brand would associate with him and I don't think the standard packing off to rehab would suffice following his Mel Gibson act.

Dior have confirmed the dismissal with a statement from Chief Executive, Sidney Toledano, "I unequivocally condemn the statements made by John Galliano which are in total contradiction to the longstanding core values of Christian Dior."
Meanwhile, following my Twitter prediction that famously principled and Jewish, Natalie Portman would be placed in a difficult position due to her role as ambassador for Dior Parfums' Miss Dior Cherie, the Oscar winning actress released a statement. "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today. In light of this video and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful."
